A Diamond Story

Mike was on a secret mission to propose to his longtime girlfriend Sophie. He came to UNTOLD through referral and had a very clear idea of the engagement ring. After the budget was set, Stefan involved Mike in real-time in the purchasing process of that one special diamond.

“Stefan contacted me while he was actually sourcing Sophie’s diamond on the Antwerp market. He sent me a video of the GIA certificate holding the diamond in his tweezer and said enthusiastically.
“Mike, we have a winner!””

Mike used Sophie’s upcoming birthday as a decoy to invite her to Hotel Franq in Antwerp for dinner and a romantic night in the best suite. Sophie was not aware that we and the entire hotel staff were all part of this plan. The hotel manager offered a surprise birthday key that led to one of the lockers in the old saferoom of this previous bank building. When she opened the locker and found the jewellery box, Mike got on his knee and proposed. She said YES!

Mike and Sophie came back in February to co-create their wedding rings. Just after they sent out all the invitations to 120 guests, Antwerp went in a second “Marc Van Ranst” lock-down. They postponed the wedding till next year and are still happily together.
